The immigrant experience is a complex one filled with culture shock, language barriers, and the attempt to find community without losing one's identity.

Growing up in the Middle East as an immigrant from India, and later moving to Canada, I know what it’s like to be a minority in a country. While individual experiences are specific to the individual, most immigrants face several common challenges, like leaving behind familiarity and grappling with loneliness and isolation. The decision to move for a better future, safer living conditions, or more job opportunities is never easy.

As you navigate culture shock, language barriers, and identity crises, you may often encounter discrimination, stereotyping, and the need to work harder to prove yourself. Additionally, you could experience the financial pressures and the responsibility of supporting family members back home. Despite these challenges, embracing one’s cultural identity and finding a new sense of belonging can lead to a fulfilling and enriched life.

I use a culturally sensitive therapy approach to support you through these transitions and challenges.
